Then

I was born and raised as a “Kiwi Kid” in New Zealand. (A little country just below Australia). I am the youngest of four kids and the only girl. I am also a twin with the youngest of my brothers. My family have always been involved in the church so I was raised believing in God and his role in my life. Back home I was involved in a church and helped to mentor and lead some of the young women there.

Now

Currently I am just finishing up five months working in the USA at a summer camp in Michigan. I decided to intern at the camp after spending 2 summers working out there with under privileged youth. Two years ago I completed a business degree in marketing and advertising. Once I get back home to NZ I will be looking to find a career to pursue as well as getting involved back at my church.

Favorite Book of bible

I don’t really have a favorite book but there are some bits of the bible which have helped me along the way for example. Ephesians 3: 17 – 19 ‘so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the lords people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God’ (TNIV)

Favorite Books

I enjoy reading a range of books from fiction to non fiction. A few of my favorites are: Frank Perrett’s “The Oath” and “Piercing the darkness”, Dan Browns “De Vinci Code”, Rob Bells “Velvet Elvis” and Shaunti Feldhahn “For Woman only”.

Favorite Movies

I love going to the movies with friends or watching a quite flick at home. I enjoy action, chick flicks and comedies. Some which I have really liked have been, “The Family Stone’, ‘Bench Warmers’, ‘Garden State’ and ‘Hotel Rwanda’.

Favorite TV Shows

A show I am very addicted to is ‘LOST’. I also enjoy ‘Greys Anatomy’ as well as ‘SCRUBS’, ‘HEROES’ and CSI type shows.

Favorite Bands

I love music and listen to a range of stuff. Some of my favorites are Snow Patrol, Jimmy Eat World, The Postal Services, Brooke Fraser, Mums Dollar, Relient K, Shooting Stars, Shaun McDonald, Hillsong United and Matt Redman.

Hobbies

I enjoy spending my time around the water. Anything from a day at the beach, wake boarding, canoeing to spending time with friends at the pools. My love for sport only goes as far as watching rugby and cricket on TV (Both of which are not played in the USA, but worth watching if you get a chance) I also enjoy picking up my camera and taking some cool shots around the place. My favorite time to take photos is when I am off doing something else I love, traveling. I have managed to get to Australia, the USA (Visited 6 different states), London, Ireland and Venice. I hope to do more traveling in the future and see more of Europe as well as get to India and Africa.

Struggles

Over the years there have been struggles which I have had to work through. One of the major ones has been with low self esteem. From 14 to 16 years old I was mocked at school about my looks. At the age of 16 I had a Jaw operation which changed the way I looked and was the start of building back up my self esteem. Through the help of family and friends loving and accepting me always. As well as realizing who I am in God and that I am his child, made in his image I have been able to overcome that struggle. Occasionally it still does come back up but I am reminded of who I am and who I am found in as well as all the cool promises which we have in God.
